Secret Valentine Gift Exchange

A Secret Valentine exchange brings the same hidden-giver fun to February 14. Everyone draws one person, keeps it secret, and leaves a small gift or note for them.

Status: the dedicated Secret Valentine generator is not live yet. This page is a guide, not a signup form.

How a Secret Valentine exchange works

Participants agree on a budget and a date, then draw names. Each person is assigned one other participant and prepares a small gift or card for them. The giver stays anonymous until the exchange, or sometimes forever, depending on how the group likes to play it.

Why private reveal links matter

Passing a folded paper list around is where secrets leak. A private link gives each person their own result without exposing the full assignment map. The organizer can distribute links without seeing who drew whom.

What is coming next

The plan is to reuse the same constrained matching engine and private-link approach with Valentine-appropriate branding, wording, and default copy. The data model already stores a generic occasion rather than assuming Christmas, so the same event structure can support it.

Until then, the Secret Santa generator is the working tool on this site. It performs the same kind of draw, with Santa-themed wording.

Ideas for a low-pressure exchange

Keep the budget modest and the gifts small. A handwritten note, a favorite snack, or a paperback can be enough. The point is the surprise and the thought, not the price tag.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Secret Valentine generator available now?

Not yet. The free generator currently supports Secret Santa. This page explains how a Secret Valentine exchange works and what is planned next.

How is Secret Valentine different from Secret Santa?

The mechanics are similar — each person draws one other person anonymously — but the occasion, timing, and tone are different. It is built around Valentine’s Day rather than the winter holidays.

Can I use the Secret Santa generator for Valentine’s Day?

You can draw names with it today, but the page and wording are Santa-themed. A dedicated Valentine version will use warmer, occasion-neutral branding.
