No participants yet. Add at least two names to draw.

Exclusions

Use exclusions for couples, family members, or anyone who shouldn't draw each other.

You will get a private organizer link and one reveal link per participant.

How it works

  1. Add your group

Type or paste names — no email addresses, no invitations, no accounts.

  2. Set the details

Add a budget and exchange date so everyone knows what to expect.

  3. Draw names

We run a constrained draw so nobody gets themselves and every exclusion is respected.

  4. Share private links

Each person gets their own reveal link. Only that link shows their match.

What is Secret Santa?

Secret Santa is a gift exchange where each person is assigned one other person in the group and gives them a gift anonymously. Instead of pulling names from a hat, this generator performs the draw online, then gives everyone a private link that reveals only their own assignment.

It is often used by families, friend groups, classrooms, and office teams because it keeps the surprise intact. Nobody has to coordinate emails, and nobody can accidentally see the full list of matches.

Using exclusions

Exclusions stop specific pairings. They are useful when two people already exchange gifts, when a couple should not draw each other, or when a manager should not be paired with someone they supervise. Add an exclusion by choosing who cannot draw whom; the mutual checkbox adds the reverse direction too.

After you add exclusions, the generator checks whether a valid draw still exists. If your rules make a draw impossible, you will see a clear message asking you to remove an exclusion rather than an invalid result.

For families and friend groups

Families usually add a budget and an exchange date so everyone knows what to expect. Exclusions are handy for spouses, siblings who already share gifts, or grandparents who should not be paired with young children. Paste your whole list at once, or add names one at a time.

For coworkers and remote teams

Office exchanges work the same way: add the team, set a sensible budget, and share each private link in a direct message. The organizer page gives you one button to copy every link so you can distribute them quickly. No email integration, calendar invites, or Slack app is required.

How the draw stays fair

The draw is not a simple shuffle. The generator builds the allowed receiver list for every participant, randomizes it, and searches for a complete assignment that respects "nobody draws themselves" and every exclusion. If a valid assignment exists, it finds one without bias toward the order names were entered.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Secret Santa generator free?

Yes. The generator is free to use, with no account, subscription, or payment. Add your group, draw names, and share the private links.

Do I need an email address or an account?

No. There is no signup and no email collection. You manage the exchange through a private organizer link, and each participant gets a private reveal link.

Can someone draw their own name?

No. The draw always assigns each participant a different person. If no valid draw is possible with your exclusions, the generator tells you instead of producing an invalid result.

How do exclusions work?

An exclusion means one participant cannot draw another. Use them for couples, spouses, family members, or anyone who should not be paired. You can apply an exclusion in both directions with one checkbox.

How many people can join?

The generator supports groups from 2 to 100 participants. It is designed for families, friend groups, classrooms, and office teams.

Can participants see anyone else’s match?

No. Each reveal link displays only that participant’s own result. The organizer page lists links but does not show who drew whom.

What happens to my exchange data?

Events are stored only to serve the organizer and reveal links, and they expire automatically after 90 days. No email addresses or wishlists are collected.
